Andy Kerns, CFP®, Principal
Andy is a founding partner of Accountable Financial Planning LLC. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor, a Registered Investment Advisor Representative in the State of Ohio, and an IRS Annual Filing Season Program Participant.
Andy brings a unique combination of education, work, and life experiences to the financial planning process, including an engineering background, history of academic achievement, and years of experience helping others optimize their resources to achieve their goals.
Prior to establishing AFP in 2009, Andy was a financial planner at another fee-only firm, where he customized financial plans, prepared tax returns, and managed assets for a diverse set of individual and business clients.
Andy completed the CFP® coursework through the College For Financial Planning and passed the CFP® Board Exam in 2007. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2002 from the University of Cincinnati, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude, and proudly competed as a long distance runner for the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Andy resides in Westerville, Ohio with his wife, Katy (below), and their three sons, Jeffery, Gregory, and Micah. He volunteers as a youth sports coach and supports his kids with their various school activities. He is an outdoor enthusiast and has hiked and camped in more than 20 U.S. National Parks. He enjoys running, biking, playing basketball, and spending time with his family.
Katy Kerns, Principal
Katy is a founding partner of Accountable Financial Planning LLC. She has a background in teaching and accounting. She provides back-office client support and helps manage the practice.
Prior to establishing AFP, Katy provided tax preparation, bookkeeping, and payroll services to individuals and small businesses as a sole proprietor. She periodically teaches college level accounting classes and is a former high school mathematics teacher.
Katy received a Masters in Accountancy from Virginia Polytechnic and State University in 2006, where she specialized in tax accounting and was a teacher’s assistant. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Ashland University in 2000, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and competed as team captain on the cross-country and track teams for the Eagles. She received the distinguished title of Academic All-American three times.
Katy resides in Westerville, Ohio with her husband, Andy (above), and their three sons, Jeffery, Gregory, and Micah. She volunteers at elementary schools in Westerville and is an active member of her community. She enjoys running, swimming, and taking care of her family.
